The journey of becoming a content marketing rockstar starts with this question:
What are the skills that separate a good content marketer from a great one?
Well, picking only five skills out of so many, is a little unfair job.
But without mastering these 5 skills, it’s almost next to impossible to become great at content marketing (even in 2021 and beyond).
LET’S GET STARTED →
💡 1. Analytics and metrics
Knowing what type of content and which content platforms are giving you the most and least ROI, is necessary to make data-driven decisions.
💡 2. Editing
One of the most important skills for a content marketer is to lead the content creation team. To ensure the quality of the content, a content marketer must be an expert in editing.
Whether it is for video, articles, or even podcast, a solid editor will make the difference anyway.
This makes sure that every piece of content is following the brand guidelines.
💡 3. Specialized knowledge
We already have so much repetitive information on literally every topic on the web.
The only way to stand out in this information age is to create high-quality content that solves the real pain points of the audience.
For example, someone who has no finance background won’t be able to provide high-quality content as compared to a finance expert with real work experience.
Even using E.A.T (Expertise, Authority, and Trust) Google is also trying to figure out the real expertise and authority of content creators.
So, there is no way to fake it.
💡 4. Strategic mindset
Content marketing isn’t a short-term process →
On average, it takes 12-18 months to start showing you the real results. That is why having a strategic and long-term goal is very important to stay aligned with business goals.
Almost every content channel (social media, corporate blogs, newsletter, etc) requires a different strategy and approach to make it relevant and useful for the audience.
Therefore it is a must-have skill for every content marketer.
💡 5. Be a good teacher (Last but not least…)
For example, someone who has no finance background won’t be able to provide high-quality content as compared to a finance expert with real work experience.
And, the ultimate goal of content marketing is to build a loyal audience.
When a content marketer becomes the best teacher in a specific industry, it becomes really easy for the brand to communicate with the audience and earn people’s trust.
That's all from my end.
BUT...
I would like to know your biggest challenge to becoming a content marketing rockstar.
I’ll personally message you if there’s anything that I can help you with.
